Christopher “Chris” B. Ortte, is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. After graduating St. Thomas More High School, Chris obtained a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science, while minoring in History and Business Administration at Louisiana State University. While at LSU, Chris was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity,  was selected to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Interfraternity Council his senior year, and wrote a weekly column for The Daily Reveille. During his undergraduate summers, Chris worked as a deckhand on offshore supply vessels and pilot vessels on the Mississippi River, as well he interned in Washington, D.C. with the office of former Congressman, Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. Between his undergraduate studies and law school, Chris worked in the Louisiana House of Representatives as a clerk for the committees for Administration of Criminal Justice, Civil Law and Procedure, and the Judiciary.

Chris went on to earn his Juris Doctor and Diploma in Comparative Law from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. While at LSU Law, Chris served as a Junior Associate for the Journal of Energy Law and Resources, Volume IV, where his article “Grand Isle III’s Tarpon Rodeo: The Confused Seas of OCSLA & Maritime Law in the Fifth Circuit” was selected as “Best Junior Associate Comment.” His article was later published in Volume V of the Journal of Energy Law and Resources, in which he served as the Journal’s Online Articles Editor. In addition, Chris also served as a Graduate Editor of the Journal of Civil Law Studies, Volume IX and as research assistant to Alain A. Levasseur, Professor Emeritus.

Chris, who is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts in Louisiana, joined the firm in 2017. He practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, general business litigation, railroad defense, casualty litigation, and contractual matters.

Aside from the practice of law, Chris is passionate about many things, including his family, faith, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, music, and Louisiana.
